Commissioning
Commissioning in phases: cold testing, point testing, tuning and trial operation, through to signed protocols and documented operation.
Commissioning is the phase where a plant goes from installed to documented in operation. We test, adjust and verify that the systems work as designed, on board and in industrial plants, and hand over with paperwork that holds up.
From installed plant to documented operation
We run commissioning in phases and close each phase before the next begins. The order is the point: a fault found during cold testing costs hours, the same fault found during start-up costs operating days.
Cold testing before energising
Checks against drawings and I/O lists, review of termination, labelling and earthing, insulation measurement and visual inspection of switchboards and distribution boards. Deviations are logged and closed before the plant is energised.
Point testing and functional testing
Point-by-point testing of sensors, valves, motors and other field equipment against the control system. We verify scaling, direction and alarm limits, and test interlocks, emergency stops and safety functions under controlled conditions.
Start-up and tuning
Stepwise start-up under load, tuning of controllers and parameters, verification of the communication between subsystems, and trial operation with the plant running in the mode it will actually be used in.
Handover and documentation
Signed test protocols, updated as-built documentation, parameter lists and a backup of the software in the version installed in the plant, together with training for those who will operate it afterwards.

What we do
- Commissioning of automation and control systems in industry and on board
- Cold testing and checks against drawings, I/O lists and system description
- Point testing of field equipment with verification of scaling, direction and alarm limits
- Testing of emergency stops, interlocks and safety functions
- Tuning of control loops and parameters under load
- Verification of communication between subsystems and networks
- Test protocols, as-built documentation and software backup at handover
- Training of operating personnel and crew on the plant they take over

Questions we are often asked
When should we bring you into the project?
Preferably before installation is finished. If we come in while cabinets and cabling are still accessible, deviations are corrected where they arise instead of surfacing on start-up day. We also take assignments where we come in late, but then time should be set aside to close what we find.
Can you commission plants designed and installed by others?
Yes. We commission and verify plants regardless of who supplied them. We ask for drawings, I/O lists and the system description in advance, and map out whatever is missing before testing starts.
What are we left with after handover?
Signed test protocols for everything tested, updated as-built documentation, parameter lists and a backup of the software exactly as it stands in the plant. That way the next service engineer, ours or someone else's, can start by reading rather than guessing.

A plant to be put into operation?
Get in touch early in the project. The emergency line is staffed around the clock, all year.
